Datadog

Datadog is a cloud monitoring and security platform that brings infrastructure metrics, application traces, logs, real user and synthetic monitoring, database monitoring, CI visibility and security products (code, cloud and SIEM) into one service with shared dashboards, alerting and more than 1,000 built-in integrations. Each product is billed separately, mostly per host, per GB or per million events.

Overview

Datadog collects telemetry from hosts, containers, Kubernetes, serverless functions, cloud providers and applications, and correlates metrics, traces and logs in dashboards and monitors. Product areas include Infrastructure Monitoring, APM with Continuous Profiler, Log Management with Observability Pipelines, Database and Data Streams Monitoring, Real User Monitoring and Session Replay, Synthetic Monitoring, CI Visibility and Test Optimization, Feature Flags, Incident Management, and security products for code, cloud workloads and SIEM. AI features (Bits AI) and agent observability are also offered.

It suits engineering, SRE, platform and security teams running production systems on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or Oracle Cloud who want one vendor across observability and security. Integrations cover cloud services, container platforms, databases, message queues and identity tools.

Pricing is per product and usage-based: Infrastructure and APM are priced per host per month with lower rates on annual commitment than on-demand, logs are priced per ingested GB plus per million indexed events by retention, and many other products have their own meters and overage rates. The Free Infrastructure tier covers up to 5 hosts with 1-day metric retention. Because most meters are additive, total cost depends on the mix of products and data volume.

  • Free Infrastructure tier retains metrics for 1 day only
  • Per-host prices on the pricing page are shown as starting prices and differ between annual and on-demand billing
  • Indexed log pricing depends on retention period (7, 15 or 30 days) and is separate from ingest
  • Several products (for example Flex Compute) are priced only via sales

Integrations

  • Amazon Web Services
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google Cloud
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
  • Alibaba Cloud
  • Kubernetes
  • Amazon EKS
  • Amazon RDS
  • Amazon S3
  • AWS Lambda
  • Argo CD
  • Apache
  • Airflow
  • ActiveMQ
